The Department of Transportation has released a report detailing the needs of the nation’s highways and bridges. Approximately $836-billion backlog of capital investment needs are left incomplete according to the 2015 Status of the Nation’s Highways, Bridges and Transit: Conditions and Performance Report to Congress.
As reported in Trucking Info, added funds from state, federal and local governments will be needed to address infrastructure needs in the next 20 years as well.
Other finding in the report include roughly $26.6-billion is needed each year to better develop transit rail and bus systems, and between the years 2002 to 2012 structurally deficient bridges decreased by over three percent.
