According to a recent report from ABI Research, the Chinese commercial telematics market will soon take off due to new regulations mandating the use of tracking systems on certain vehicles. Due to licensing requirements that require multinational telematics service providers with local players, the Chinese market continues to restrict the involvement of Western players. Lucky for us, we are already in China and have a head start on the market.
With sales of commercial vehicles in China estimated at close to 4 million units in 2011, and around half of global heavy truck sales in the country, it's clear that the opportunity for fleet management services is massive. In the report and the recent press release, ABI Research suggested Navman Wireless is poised to win a big slice of the Chinese commercial telematics market.
