Organizations that are primarily in the field service industry are becoming far more mobile reliant when it comes to the way employees and managers are creating and accessing information.

According to research by The Service Council, 50 percent of organizations provide their field service agents and technicians with a smartphone as their primary work device. And of the organizations that are seeking to integrate new devices into their field service network, 52 percent are considering smartphones with 36 percent exploring the viability of tablet devices.

And this growing use of smartphones extends beyond just agents and technicians. Now, field service managers and executives are adopting the use of smartphones and tablets as a means to examining real-time performance, adjusting day-to-day strategies, and developing plans for forthcoming service projects.

This consumerization of mobile technology has also led to an increased interest in enterprise app stores, which allows for the creation of specialized programs that assist employees while out in the field.

The Teletrac Drive App Suite For Android

With Teletrac Drive for Android, field service agents, technicians, and managers are able to access multiple app-based functions, including navigation, messaging, and compliance solutions like electronic driver logbooks (E-Logs) and driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR).

The comprehensive suite of apps will be supported through Android on the New Teletrac Tablet and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

Teletrac Drive offers its users continuous navigation visibility, allowing drivers to follow routes with color-coded mapping and turn-by-turn, voice-guided directions. And with an assortment of map views, the new app provides a wealth of driving data while also considering speed limits and other road restrictions.

Integration with Teletrac's Fleet Director software allows the app’s messaging feature to ensure clear communication between dispatchers and drivers. Users have the ability to send instant messages for job-site arrivals and departures or vehicle and driver availability. For added ease of use, split-screen technology lets drivers see incoming messages while the navigation feature continues to guide them to their upcoming job-site or location.

Vehicle operators are also able to eliminate the manual process of time-keeping and maintenance requirements with E-Log and DIVR capabilities.

E-Logs assist in streamlining the process of entering, recording, completing all of the federally mandated information for logbooks, all directly from the vehicle’s cab. Teletrac Drive’s federally compliant function allows users to fill out digital forms, which removes tedious paperwork that occurs during daily vehicle maintenance inspections.
