Challenge:
For the Orange Aboriginal Medical Service (OAMS), safety is paramount. As a provider of medical and healthcare services to the community of Orange, the organisation relies heavily on its fleet to transport patients between appointments, conduct home visits, and attend conferences. However, with little visibility into the whereabouts of their drivers, OAMS struggled to respond quickly in case of an incident or patient emergency. Additionally, the reputation of the business depended on maintaining a safe and productive fleet.
Michael Halls, Business Manager at OAMS, explains that a major challenge for them was having employees frequently on the roads. He emphasizes the importance of knowing their locations to ensure their safety in the event of an incident.
Solution:
To address these challenges, OAMS turned to Teletrac Navman to implement a GPS tracking solution across all nine vehicles. This telematics system provides real-time insights into driver locations, allowing the organisation to quickly identify their whereabouts in case of an incident and send assistance promptly.
The technology also improved communication and response to patient feedback. Management can now access reports to verify arrival times for patient pickups, significantly reducing complaints. Additionally, reception staff can provide real-time updates to customers regarding delays caused by traffic.
The installation was really easy. We didn’t have to worry about anything, and if we ever have any questions, Teletrac Navman is great at answering them.

Results:
Since implementing the Teletrac Navman GPS tracking solution, OAMS has achieved several key outcomes. The results are as follows:
1. Enhanced Driver Safety: Improved safety measures and real-time location tracking.
2. Reduced Patient Complaints: Better communication regarding appointment timings.
3. Streamlined Workflow: Transitioning towards electronic logbooks and improved efficiency.
The biggest benefit has been the safety of our drivers. But we also know that there’s so much more that we could be doing with the Teletrac Navman solution, which we’re looking forward to exploring.
