Challenge:
Global Utility Construction (GUC) faced challenges in ensuring the security and tracking of its fleet and equipment while operating in remote locations. With crews often working away from the main site, there was a need for a reliable system to monitor vehicle and asset locations to provide peace of mind and ensure that everything was where it should always be.
We’ve found that installing the trackers in our vehicles, plant, and other equipment has given us great peace of mind. Now, if a crew is working remotely and must leave site for a weekend, we can keep an eye on the assets and make sure that everything is where it should be at all times.
- Aaron Wright, a representative from GUC.
Solution:
To fulfil its tracking requirements, GUC turned to Teletrac Navman and installed GPS-enabled asset trackers. This solution allowed Aaron and his back-office staff to easily track vehicle and asset locations, ensuring drivers were never far from help.
Wright emphasized that the trackers have significantly lowered administrative costs by eliminating the need for constant phone calls to check on the status and location of personnel. Instead, they can easily access the platform to view real-time information about operations.
The true value of the technology was highlighted when a traffic control Ute was stolen from a worksite in Parramatta. Thanks to the telematics, GUC was able to provide the police with the real-time location of the vehicle, allowing them to pursue, ultimately apprehending the thieves and recovering the vehicle.
We’re really happy with all the efficiencies we uncovered when we started to use the Teletrac Navman solution. Now, we can compare timesheets that the drivers are filling out with the GPS data we get from Teletrac Navman and make sure that everything is correct.
Results:
Since implementing the Teletrac Navman GPS vehicle tracking solution, Global Utility Construction has experienced several benefits. The results are as follows:
- Enhanced Security: Peace of mind by tracking vehicles and machinery, even remotely.
- Reduced Admin Costs: Less time spent locating drivers and managing timesheets.
- Increased Savings: More accurate Fuel Tax Credits claims, contributing to overall business profits.
Additionally, the implementation improved safety and duty of care, allowing GUC to contact staff in case of vehicle breakdowns in remote areas.
