TELETRAC NAVMAN ANNOUNCES NATIONAL FUTURE OF

CONSTRUCTION SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST

Competition seeks students' ideas on what the future of construction technology holds

Garden Grove, CA, November 14, 2018– Teletrac Navman, a global software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider that leverages location-based technology for GPS tracking solutions, today announced they are now accepting submissions for their second national essay and video contest on technology in the construction industry for American college students. Two winners will each be awarded a $3,000 scholarship for the Spring 2019 semester.

"Technological disruption in the construction industry has accelerated in the last 3-5 years as companies adopt emerging technologies like Building Information Modeling (BIM), telematics and IoT, AR/VR and more - and the pace is only accelerating down," said Mika Majapuro, senior director, product management, Teletrac Navman. "At Teletrac Navman, we've seen the great benefits innovative technology has brought to the construction industry, and we're excited to continue and advance this disruption by supporting the next generation of engineers, innovators and designers and their groundbreaking, forward-thinking ideas."

To enter, applicants must submit either an essay (500 to 700 words) or a two-minute video about one of the following topics on how technology is changing the construction industry now and for years to come:

  • What will a construction site look like 10 years from now?
  • How will technology and the internet of things influence the ways buildings are constructed?
  • How will construction jobs change? Which jobs will be added and which will be taken away?
  • How will construction productivity keep up with economic productivity?
  • How will the growing shift towards eco-friendly practices impact construction?

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year American college or university. The $3,000 prize may be applied toward academic costs only, including tuition and textbooks.

To enter, applicants may email a PDF or Word document or send a video link from YouTube, Vimeo or a similar video platform to scholarship@teletracnavman.com by 12 p.m. CST on Monday, December 7, 2018. Submissions will be reviewed by the Teletrac Navman Scholarship Committee, and the winner will be contacted by December 17, 2018.
