Fuel is the second largest cost after payroll, and innovations in telematics and GPS tracking solutions help fleet managers reduce consumption. These technologies provide information on the best and shortest routes, limit excessive engine idling, alert and monitor driver behavior for harsh breaking and speeding (fuel waste) and more. While fuel prices are not reaching the same highs – in the $4 range – from years past, they are trending upward. Even a small price increase per gallon, per truck is, over a year is a lot of money when stretched across an organization. Smart companies will not leave that money on the table.
